Big old houses, long pipe runs

A lot of Cheltenham was built between the early 1900s and the 1940s: stone and brick singles, large twins and Tudor style houses on tree lined streets. They are beautiful houses with long pipe runs, several bathrooms and, in many cases, original galvanized supply lines and cast iron drains.

Those mature trees are part of the charm and part of the plumbing story. Roots find the joints in older sewer laterals, which is one of the most common reasons for slow drains and backups here.

FAQ

Plumber in Cheltenham: questions

Do you serve all of Cheltenham Township?

Yes: Elkins Park, Wyncote, Melrose Park, Glenside, La Mott, Laverock and Cheltenham Village.

Why do drains back up in older Cheltenham homes?

Most often roots in an older clay or cast iron lateral, or decades of buildup inside cast iron. A camera look tells us which.

Can you work around plaster walls?

Yes. We trace the leak or the pipe route first so any openings are as small as possible.
